Renault India following the trend of the Indian car market has announced the price hike for its recently launched top selling SUV, Renault Duster. The price hike is going to be effective from the month of October and will range from Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000 across India. Renault Duster was launched with an introductory price of Rs 7.19 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) for its base variant and received an amazing response with clocking in over 20,000 bookings. The diesel variant houses a 1.5 litre, dCi, K9K diesel and boasts of a fuel efficiency of 20.45 km/litre (ARAI figures) which is gonna see a price hike of Rs.40,000 while the petrol variant which is powered by a 1.6 litre engine churns our 104PS and gives a fuel average of 13.24 Km/litre prices are going to be raised by Rs.30,000.

The SUV may come with two engine options: a 1.6-litre, 16-valve petrol engine that produces 114 hp and a 1.5-litre dCI turbodiesel engine that puts out 84 hp. This is the same engine that’s there on the Nissan Micra and the Renault Logan though slightly tweaked to squeeze the extra horses.The much anticipated Duster has been pegged as a robust and affordable SUV for first time SUV buyers. It has been priced very aggressively and starts from just Rs. 7.19 lakh for the base petrol model and Rs. 7.99 lakh for the base diesel model.The Duster offers two engine options, a 1.6-litre petrol with 102bhp or a 1.5-litre diesel unit in two states of tune (85bhp and 110bhp). The diesel engine is the same one as that in the Fluence and is a rather refined motor. For city use the 85bhp version is deemed adequate while for frequent overtaking and highway duty the 110bhp version is recommended. There is only a 2 seconds difference between the 0-100kph times of both versions with the 110bhp Duster taking only about 12.5 seconds.
The Duster is available in only two-wheel drive at the moment with the front-wheels being driven via a five-speed manual transmission. Seeing the demand, Renault may launch the 4X4 at an appropriate time. The Duster has been launched in RxE and RxL trim versions for the petrol & base diesel model while the 110bhp diesel model comes in RxL and the fully loaded RxZ trim levels. The top-end variant get safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist.
