സമീപകാലത്ത് കേരള സമൂഹം/രാഷ്ട്രീയം ഏറ്റവും അധികം ചർച്ച ചെയ്ത പദങ്ങൾ ‘അവർണ്ണൻ’, ‘സവർണ്ണൻ’ എന്നിവയായിരിക്കും. വർണ്ണ വിഭജനം വർഗ്ഗ വിഭജന മായും, ജാതി വിഭജനമായും രൂപാന്തിരപ്പെട്ടിട്ട് നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളുടെ പഴക്കമുണ്ട് എങ്കിലും ജാതി ചിന്തകൾ ഇല്ലാതായി തുടങ്ങുന്ന ഇന്നത്തെക്കാലത്തും വർണ്ണാശ്രമത്തെ ജാതിയുടെ കോളത്തിൽ തന്നെ തളച്ചിടാനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങൾക്ക് പിന്നിൽ രാഷട്രീയ വെറിയുടെ നിഗൂഢതലങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട് എന്നതിൽ സംശയമേതുമില്ല. അത് കൊണ്ട് മാത്രം, യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ വർണ്ണാശ്രമധർമ്മം എന്നതിന് അർത്ഥമെന്താണ് എന്നും, ജാതിക്കപ്പുറത്ത് ഇതിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യമെന്താണെന്നും ചിന്തിക്കുകയാണ് ഇവിടെ. രണ്ട് വർഷം മുമ്പ് എഴുതിയതെങ്കിലും പ്രസക്തി നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത വിഷയമാകയാൽ ഇവിടെ പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യുന്നു.
