സർപ്പ ഭൂമിയായ കേരളത്തിലെ എല്ലാ വിധ സർപ്പങ്ങളുടേയും ആരാധനാകേന്ദ്രം എന്ന വിശാലമായ സങ്കൽപ്പത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ട ശ്രീപുരം അഷ്ടനാഗേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ , കേരളത്തിൽ ഉടനീളം നിലനിന്നിരുന്നതും ,നില നിൽക്കുന്നതുമായ വ്യത്യസ്തങ്ങളായ എല്ലാ വിധ സർപ്പാരാധനകളും അതിന്റെ തനതായ ആചാരാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളോട് കൂടി നടത്തുക എന്ന ആഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ ഫലമായി ഈ വരുന്ന ഡിസംബർ30,31 തിയ്യതികളിലായി, വടക്കൻ കേരളത്തിലെ തനത് അനുഷ്ഠാന രൂപമായ തെയ്യത്തിലെ നാഗാരാധനാ സമ്പ്രദായമായ അഷ്ടനാഗേശ്വര – നാഗേശ്വരീ തെയ്യം അതിന്റെ പൂർണമായ ആചാരാനുഷ്ഠാനത്തോടെ നടത്തുന്നു .

തെയ്യം എന്ന ആരാധനാ സമ്പ്രദായത്തിലൂടെ, മാനവരാശിക്ക് ജാതി, മത, ലിംഗ വ്യത്യാസങ്ങളുടെയും ശുദ്ധാശുദ്ധ നിബന്ധനകളുടേയും വേലിക്കെട്ടുകൾ ഇല്ലാതെ ഈശ്വരനുമായി നേരിട്ടുള്ള സംവാദത്തിലൂടെയും ,അനുഗ്രഹത്തിലൂടെയും ഓരോരുത്തരുടേയും സ്വജീവിതത്തിൽ ഈശ്വരനെ അനുഭവിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നു .ഇത്തരം വൈവിധ്യങ്ങളായ പല പല ആരാധനാസമ്പ്രദായങ്ങളിലൂടെയും ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഒരാൾക്ക് ,ഇന്ന് കാണുന്ന വികലമായ ജാതി, വർണ്ണ വ്യവസ്ഥകൾക്ക് അതീതമായി അവനവൻ അവനവനായിത്തന്നെ തന്റെ സ്വത്ത്വത്തിൽ ഉറച്ച് നിന്നു കൊണ്ട് അവന് അവന്റെ ഈശ്വരനെ അവന്റെ രീതിയിൽ ആരാധിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കും എന്ന അതിമഹത്തരമായ സത്യം വെളിപ്പെട്ടു കിട്ടുന്നു.

ഡിസംബർ 30 ന് വൈകിട്ടത്തെ സന്ധ്യയോട് കൂടി അഷ്ടനാഗേശ്വര – നാഗേശ്വരീ വെള്ളാട്ടവും ,തോറ്റവും ഉൾപെടെയുള്ള അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങുന്നു, അതിനു ശേഷം 31 പുലർച്ചയോടെ അഷ്ടനാഗേശ്വര – നാഗേശ്വരീ തെയ്യം പൂർണ്ണ രൂപത്തോടെ എഴുന്നള്ളി സന്നിഹിതരായവർക്ക് സാന്നിദ്ധ്യമരുളി ,അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച് ഉച്ചയോടെ മുടിയഴിക്കുന്നു.
